For one of my friend's birthday, we went out to a place called Cerveceria 100 Montaditos for dinner. It is a really popular restaurant where they serve tiny sandwiches called bocadillos. It is really good and there are several locations throughout Madrid. The place is always packed!
We also saw this guy preaching in Sol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mk7bkbUSBs
Next I went to an Irish bar to watch my Friend Morgan play the Harp. She is from France but she is studying here in Spain for a year too. She studies music education at UAM.
All of the sudden some other people started playing some other instruments and they were jamming together in the Irish Pub. Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oY0PRwUxzes
A few days later, I went to a museum with a few of my friends. The Museum Is called el Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales or MNCN. We got lost finding the palce. Actually it was right off the side of a main road that runs through Madrid. As we passed it the first time, I said "Hey, that looks like it could be a museum" and my friends were like"... ehhh I don't know....." so we jsut kept walking. when we finally found it (for the second time) we had been walking around in circles for a half an hour. Here are some pics of the museum :
This was actually part of an exhibit. I don't know if they forgot to pain the rest of the giraffe or if they didn't care or what. Only in Spain... |
A few days later I made dinner with some of my friends from the Residencia. Then the next day I was hanging out with some of my other friends from Erasums and we decided to make a cheesecake. while the cake was in the oven we went out to try to find Halloween costumes:

Shortly after this picture was taken, I went to try to get a hair cut at a local salon and it was a disaster! I told the woman to only cut a little bit of my hair, I showed her that I only wanted 3 inches cut off and she completely ignored what I said and cut off like 5 inches of my hair and cut my bangs really thick and short. She completely changed the style of my hair. The hair cut cost 12 euros and then they charged me 18 euros to dry it and style it. The woman who did my hair scammed me on purpose to make me pay more for the hair drying. so I ended u paying 30 euros for the haircut that made me look like a boy. After I payed I went into the bathroom ans I was crying so much bc my hair looked horrible. I called Sean and my sister to try to make me feel better. After that I went back to the salon and demanded my $ back. I told the lady who did my hair that she totally changed the style of my hair and made it look so ugly. She told me that I it looked prettier the way she did it. Then she brought out some magazines and showed me some pictures of how it was supposed to look. I told her that is not what I wanted, nor what I asked for and she completely changed my hair and I hated it. Then I told her that she scammed me because she knew that I only wanted the 12 euro haircut but lied to me so I would pay more to have her dry it. So then she got the supervisor and he called his manager and they refunded me the 18 euros that I paied to have my hair dried. Then he warned me that the salons in Madrid are like that, they are known for scamming people so be careful. He was really nice but I was still really upset about my hair :( I have figures out a way to part it so it doesn't look too bad and now I just have to wait for it all to grow back. I will never get my hair cut here again. :( She wanted my hair to look something like this but my bangs were a little shorter and it looked way worse:
I'm trying really hard to forget that day...
